Tumor?specific and photothermal?augmented chemodynamic therapy by ferrocene?carbon dot?crosslinked nanoparticles

Extensive research have been devoted to the exploration of multifunctional theranostic agents for cancer, but poor tumor specificity and unsatisfactory treatment efficacy are some critical obstacles their clinical translations. Herein, ferrocene-carbon dot-crosslinked nanoparticles (Fc-CD NPs) were designed fabricated achieving highly specific photothermal-augmented chemodynamic therapy (CDT). The Fc-CD NPs found not only inherit immanent fluorescence, photoacoustic, photothermal properties carbon dots (CDs), also be endowed with CDT that could occur selectively in microenvironment (TME) due presence Fc triggering Fenton reaction. Moreover, enlarged particle size facilitated effective accumulation at sites, thus realizing great improvement antitumor outcomes. Once docking being exposed 660 nm laser irradiation, significantly amplified effect was observed heat-accelerating generation reactive oxygen species (ROS). More interestingly, since produced ROS turn alleviate thermal-resistance (PTT), therapeutic efficiency integrated PTT synergized maximum extent. This study on one hand provides a facile approach fabricate CDs-based nanoplatform enhanced specificity, other emphasizes merits synergizing mutually beneficial modalities more efficient cancer therapy.
